We believe it is important for every resident to be offered a choice of activities to suit their preferences and abilities. Involvement in social activities helps to keep our residents mobile and alert, and encourages them to take an interest in the people and the world around them.
Residents are encouraged to join in with activities whether in a group or one-to-one, although a former resident once said ‘this is a rest Home and I intend to rest!’ The choice is given to each individual.
We employ 2 full-time Social Activities Coordinators who ensure that a range of activities are organised either on a one-to-one basis or as a group and we encourage each resident to join in. A ‘Getting to Know Me’ document is completed with each resident upon arrival in the home to better understand their preferences.
Theatre and other cultural outings, games, discussions, music, hobbies, reading, singing, quizzes and reminiscing are just a few of the activities on offer. The Activities Planner is led by the residents. All major events throughout the year such as Christmas, Easter, Diwali and VE Day are celebrated with parties and in other ways.
